Setting up Cloudflare

A free account, a token, and you can publish. About five minutes.

Why Cloudflare? PicturePost publishes your galleries to your own free Cloudflare account. That means your galleries are yours, visits are free with no limit, and nobody can put ads on them. You set it up once, and it takes about five minutes.

On iPhone or iPad

Open PicturePost and tap Settings. Under Connect Cloudflare you'll see three steps.

  1. Create a free Cloudflare account

Tap Create a free Cloudflare account. Sign up with your email address and a password; no credit card is needed. Cloudflare sends you an email, so open it and confirm your address, then come back to PicturePost.

Already have a Cloudflare account? Skip this step.

  2. Create a PicturePost token

Tap Create a PicturePost token. Cloudflare opens with everything already filled in. Scroll to the bottom and tap Continue to summary, then Create Token, then Copy.

A token is like a key that lets PicturePost publish to your account. It can only manage your gallery websites, nothing else.

  3. Paste the token

Back in PicturePost, tap Paste. PicturePost checks the token with Cloudflare and sets up your free web address, which looks like your-name.workers.dev. If pasting doesn't work, tap Type the token instead.

That's it. Make a gallery, tap Publish, then Copy Link or Share. A brand-new address can take a minute or two to start working the first time.

On a Mac

Open PicturePost's settings and choose Cloudflare. The steps are the same: create a free account, create a token with the button provided, and paste it in. If you already set up Cloudflare on your iPhone, use the same Cloudflare account on your Mac so all your galleries share one home page.

Common questions

Does Cloudflare cost anything?

No. Galleries run on Cloudflare's free plan, and visits are free and unlimited. You only pay Cloudflare if you choose to buy a domain name from them.

Can I use my own domain, like trip.yourname.com?

Yes. If your domain is on Cloudflare, choose it in PicturePost's Settings and each gallery can use its own address on it.

Is my token safe?

The token is stored in your device's Keychain and is only ever sent to Cloudflare. You can delete it anytime in the Cloudflare dashboard under My Profile, API Tokens.

I get an error when I paste the token.

Make sure you confirmed your email address with Cloudflare first, then create a new token with the button in PicturePost and copy it again. Still stuck? Email [email protected].

How do I take a gallery down?

Delete it in PicturePost, or in the Cloudflare dashboard open Workers & Pages and delete the gallery's site.
